Tour Itinerary

Day 1
London - Calais - Brussels - Strasbourg or North-eastern France Region (Distance: 790 Kms)

This morning, join your coach and head toward Dover or Folkestone for your crossing to Calais or Dunkerque. Make sure to have your passports ready, as we will be crossing UK and French immigration, as well as security. The ferry crossing takes about 90 minutes (40 minutes via the Euro Tunnel train). After lunch, we continue driving towards Brussels, the capital of Belgium.

Upon reaching Brussels, we'll take a moment to capture a photo at the "Atomium," a remarkable stainless-steel structure built for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair, standing at an impressive 102 meters. The nine massive stainless-steel spheres are intricately connected to mimic the structure of an iron crystal, magnified 165 billion times.

Following this photo stop, we proceed to our hotel and restaurant, situated in the Northeastern Grand Est region of France (Metz, Nancy, or Strasbourg). Depending on the hotel's location, we will either dine at the restaurant for an Indian dinner or head to the hotel, where our caterers will serve dinner in one of the conference rooms later in the evening. You can then rest after a long day of travel.
L, D

Day 2
Black Forest - Lake Titisee - Rhine Falls - Lucerne (Distance: 380 Kms)

Today morning after breakfast, we check out of the hotel and board the coach heading South-East. We continue our drive into Germany. While we drive through the Black Forest, enjoy the tree-lined alpine views, and be fascinated by the deep gorges along the way.

We then arrive at the small town of Titisee-Neustadt in the middle of the Black Forest. Among dark fir trees, high hills, spectacular cliffs, and gentle valleys sits the largest natural lake in the Black Forest, Titisee, which stretches for some 2 km (over 1 mile). Here, enjoy some free time to wander the quaint streets, relax by the lake, or shop for locally made cuckoo clocks and a varied selection of souvenirs. After your shopping trip, we have our Indian lunch before heading towards Switzerland.

Continuing our journey south of Germany and into Schaffhausen, a city in northeastern Switzerland on the river Rhine, next to the German border. On arrival, take the time to admire the prime tourist attraction of the Rhine Falls, Europe's largest open-plain waterfalls. You have the time to enjoy a quick trip to the center of falls on the erosion-resistant rock or simply bide the short time we have here, admiring the beauty from the banks of the River Rhine with the Wörth Castle in the backdrop.

We re-join our coach and make our way towards Central Switzerland and to Lucerne. In Lucerne, spend time admiring Lake Lucerne, the fourth-largest lake in Switzerland, with Mt Pilatus, Mt Rigi, and the Swiss Alps in the background, or take a wonderful walk around the Old Town in the pretty cobbled streets. Don’t forget to walk and view the Chapel Bridge, also known as Kapellbrücke, the famous 204 meters long wooden-covered bridge originally built in 1333, regarded as the oldest covered bridge in Europe.

We later visit the Lion Monument, or the Lion of Lucerne, a rock relief designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris. The carving has often been heralded as "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world."

We board back onto the coach after another fun-filled day heading for our evening Indian meal and hotel.
B, L, D

Day 3
Mt Titlis - Interlaken - Geneva (Distance: 340 Kms)

After breakfast today, we ascend 10,000ft to the summit of Mt. Titlis. We take a small cable car or funicular depending on the time of the year before we board the world's first revolving cable car, the Titlis Rotair. The Rotair completes one full revolution as we ascend to the top of Mt. Titlis, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Uri Alps. At the summit, you can not only enjoy panoramic views of the Swiss landscapes but also take pictures in traditional Swiss outfits, purchase souvenirs, and walk the highest Cliff Walk, a suspended pedestrian bridge along the cliff of Mount Titlis 3,000m above sea level. It's believed to be the highest elevation suspension bridge in Europe (subject to operation). Spend the morning playing in the snow and visiting the ice caves.

On Mt. Titlis, you can also enjoy the optional Ice Flyer (subject to operation). The Ice Flyer chairlift smoothly carries you over pristine snowfields and icy depths, with some crevasses up to twenty meters deep. This glacier experience is unique to Mt. Titlis, and you can purchase souvenir photos from the photo studio shop.

We head down in the early afternoon for a well-deserved Indian lunch after the morning's activities. Once our energy levels are replenished, we board our coach and make our way from Engelberg to the beautiful city of Interlaken.

In the afternoon, we reach Interlaken, a small town nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The Höheweg is Interlaken's main street, running between Interlaken West and Interlaken Ost Railway Stations. Spend time shopping for souvenirs along the high street or simply admire the stunning views of the Bernese Alps. You can also wander through the Kursaal Garden, where you will find a 350 Kg statue of the renowned Indian filmmaker, the late Yash Chopra.

We transfer back to our coach, heading towards the city of Geneva.

In the evening, once we reach Geneva, we make a couple of short photo stops. We first visit the "Jardin Anglais," known as the English Gardens, where we stop for photos of the National Monument featuring Lady Geneva and Lady Helvetica. We also see the iconic Flower Clock, an outdoor flower clock designed in 1955, made with colorful blooms that change seasonally, and finally, the Jet d'Eau (subject to operation), a fountain lit up at night, pumping half a cubic meter of water per second 140m into the air.

We then head towards the United Nations of Geneva (UNOG) for our second photo stop. The UNOG is the second-largest of the four major office sites of the United Nations and is situated in the Palais des Nations building, constructed for the League of Nations between 1929 and 1938. Capture an amazing picture containing all the flags of the countries of the United Nations.

We finish our quick trip to Geneva by heading towards the restaurant and hotel, where we enjoy a buffet Indian dinner before settling in for the night.
B, L, D

Day 4
Geneva - Paris (Distance: 580 Kms)

Today, after breakfast, check out of the hotel as we make our way towards Paris. Please note that you won't arrive in Paris until late in the afternoon, and we'll make a stop en route for lunch. The lunch stop will offer only continental food, and there won't be any fast food restaurants available at the service area.

Upon arrival in the "City of Lights" - Paris, we head to the renowned and globally recognized Eiffel Tower. Your visit will take you to (Level 2*) of the Eiffel Tower. Be prepared for potentially long security and ticket queues, as reservations are not always available. If the (Level 2*) ticket is not available or closed, the ticket difference will be refunded to you at the end of the tour. In some cases, we may visit Montparnasse Tower instead if the Eiffel Tower is closed due to national holidays, Bastille Day parades, or for other reasons. Please note that advance warnings will not be provided regarding changes to the monument.

In the evening, we proceed to the restaurant for our group buffet meal. After enjoying your Indian dinner at the allocated entry time, you can either join an optional night tour of Paris or be transferred back to the hotel on one of our vehicles.

If you opt for the "Paris Illumination Tour," we board our coach after dinner and embark on a 90-minute night tour. This tour takes you around the key sights of Paris at night, allowing you to admire the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Concorde, and Invalides from the comfort of your coach, with the magnificent street and monumental lights guiding you towards these wonderful sights. Witness the Eiffel Tower sparkling on the hour for five minutes, immersing you in the magic of the "City of Lights."

Late at night, we make our way to the hotel for our overnight stay. Get a good night's sleep as more wonders await you tomorrow.
B, D

Day 5
Paris - Calais - London (Distance: 460 Kms)

Today morning, we check out of the hotel after breakfast and load the luggage depending on your final drop-off point.

We then make our way back to the center of Paris, where we embark on the famous "Bateaux" cruises of Paris for our one-hour cruise along the River Seine. During this cruise, we cover the stunning architecture that Paris has to offer, including the Grand Palais, Petite Palais, Pont Alexandre 3rd bridge, National Assembly, Invalides, and, of course, the spectacular Eiffel Tower. The glass-covered boat is at your disposal, and you can choose to sit inside or outside while listening to the commentary of the sights.

While traveling around Paris, you would have covered various other sights, including the Vendome, home to the Ritz Hotel; Concorde Square, made famous during the French revolution; and Avenue des Champs Élysées, the largest tree-lined boulevard in Paris.

We then depart Paris and make our way towards Calais, not before stopping at an Indian restaurant for our last meal together. After Lunch, we continue to make our way back to London.

The journey back is when we say goodbye to friends we have made along the way as we drop off those getting off on the route.

Once we reach Calais, we cross over back into Dover or Folkestone, depending on our crossing schedule for the tour on the day. We continue our journey towards Wembley and dropping passengers off at their respective drop-offs.

Important Notes
On occasions, due to large events, traffic, logistics and availability of reservations, it may be necessary to change the above itinerary. However, all aspects of the itinerary will be covered. In the event of the Eiffel Tower restricting access the price difference for the restricted floor will be reimbursed. Eiffel Tower when closed during national holidays or events may be substituted by Montparnasse tower or will be refunded.

Additional Excursions

Ice Flyer - The chairlift sweeps you smoothly and safely over crisp, virgin snowfields and icy depths. Some of the crevasses are up to twenty metres deep. Only on Mt Titlis can you expect such a fantastic glacier experience.

Currency

In most of Western Europe, the currency you will require will be Euros. However, you will need Swiss Francs (CHF) when travelling in Switzerland. It is possible to purchase items in Euros whilst in Switzerland (selected establishments); however it should be noted that the change will be given back in CHF.

Passengers should exchange any spending money for their holiday before they travel. Whilst on tour, it is very inconvenient, and not all places you visit will have ATMs or accept credit/debit cards.

We also advise our passengers to keep some change in coins on them whilst on tour as using toilets in many parts of Europe is not free.

USD, GBP or travellers' cheques are not widely accepted at locations in this tour.

Distances

An important point to note whilst on a touring holiday is that some long journeys are unavoidable, especially when travelling from city to city.

It is advisable that passengers carry necessities that they may need for the day such as water, dry snacks, cameras, etc., in their hand luggage.

It should be noted that the travel times are extensive on this tour.

Hotels

Not all hotels on this tour will have air-conditioning.

Please also note that not all hotels provide a kettle. If you require warm milk for a baby, we advise you to carry your own bottle warmer and milk. Passengers may also want to take a small travel iron and hairdryer, as many hotel rooms may not have these facilities.

Some hotels in Europe, especially Germany, Switzerland, Austria & Italy, will provide two single beds put together as a Double occupancy room; we do contract with such hotels, and you should be prepared for such eventualities.

If you use services such as the phone or minibar or pay TV whilst in your room, you will have to pay the hotel directly when you check out; these services are not included in your tour cost.

The maximum occupancy per room on this tour is three person(s).

Other Advisories

General

Particular attention should be paid to the baggage allowance for this tour; this can be found on our general information page. Excess baggage may not be allowed on the coach. The WC facilities on the coach will be restricted on this tour.

The tour will merge and change tour reps/coaches partway through the tour.

High Altitude

You should only make trips to high altitudes if you feel healthy. The following recommendations apply:

Advanced age is no barrier to high altitude. The altitude is not a concern for blood pressure patients who are well-controlled with medication. Asthmatics can travel to high altitudes without any problems. High-altitude air is less polluted with particles that can cause an asthma attack. People with epilepsy who are well controlled with medication should be able to negotiate the altitude.

Pregnant women: There may be a particular risk for pregnancy even without pre-existing diseases over 2500-3000 metres. Caution is therefore advised if in doubt; please consult your doctor in advance.

Infants: Short-term stays at the mountain tops are unproblematic. Infants and young children often cannot equalise pressure during descent and are increasingly at risk of ear irritation. Regular swallowing (drinking, sucking on a bottle) during the descent can prevent aggravation. Because children can chill faster than adults, always pay attention to sufficient protection from the cold at high altitudes. Sunglasses and good sunscreen are necessary on the glaciers!

High altitude visits are not recommended for:

Lung and heart patients who are already short of breath while at rest or climbing stairs are advised not to stay at high altitudes. Patients with angina pectoris or severely impaired performance with heart enlargement and heart failure should not visit high altitudes. Those with medical therapy, coronary artery disease (angina pectoris) and heart enlargement should not visit high altitudes. Patients with a pronounced risk profile for cardiovascular disease (smoker + high blood pressure + diabetes + high blood fats + overweight + occasional chest pain) should consult the doctor before visiting high altitude. Do not stay at high altitude after having striated muscles or a stroke.

Pick up and Drop off points

Passengers should arrive at their pick-up point no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Your pick-up point, address and time will be stated on your invoice. If you have selected a pick-up time outside of Wembley, Southall or East Ham then you will be confirmed your pick-up time.

Return journeys from the continent are scheduled to arrive at Dover or Folkestone between 19.00hrs and 20.00hrs approximately. We will then proceed to the original pick-up points in London (arrival time between 22.30hrs and 00.30hrs+1)

Outside London pick up points: Transportation may be arranged by a private car, minibus or an alternative coach for your journey to and from London. On rare occasions, there may be up to an hour wait for a connecting transfer on the return. Passengers can expect to receive a call from Star to confirm details a day prior to their departure. Star Tours reserves the right to amend any pick-up time 12 hours prior to departure.

Visas & Passports

A passport valid for three months beyond the length of stay and issued within the past ten years is required by all nationals. If you hold an Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladesh Passport, you must obtain a Schengen visa before travelling.

Many nationalities, such as British, EU and American nationals, do not require Schengen visas. Should you need further clarification, please get in touch with us.

Weather

Weather in much of Western Europe tends to be the same as in England and is unpredictable. Therefore, regardless of the time of the year, it is advisable to carry an umbrella.

Temperatures vary from place to place. Therefore, it is a good idea to check online for average temperatures for the destination(s) being visited, depending on the time of the year. On a multi-destination tour, passengers will likely travel through various weather fronts; whilst in Switzerland, during excursions to mountain tops, passengers may experience temperatures between 0 °c and 2 °c while simultaneously experiencing temperatures of over 30 °c whilst they are in France.

Passengers can be well prepared by carrying appropriate clothing, footwear and accessories. Passengers should also be aware that during the winter months, most of the sightseeing will be in the dark as, in Europe, the day becomes dark very early during winter.

Wheelchairs

We will accept lightweight manual wheelchairs for travel, subject to them being capable of being stowed in the luggage hold of the coach. It is also essential that a family member is also on tour to push their wheelchair. Star Tours will also request hotels for suitably equipped rooms; however, this is only on a request basis and cannot be guaranteed. It should be noted Mt Titlis & Eiffel Tower are not fully accessible for wheelchair users. In addition, Brussels, Luzern, Lion Monument, Pisa, Rome, Venice, and Florence will have cobbled streets, which may not be suitable for wheelchairs.

In most of Europe, the use of child seats in coaches is mandatory for children under the age of 12 or who are shorter than 150 cm. Children under 7 years old or less than 125 cm tall must use a child seat with a harness or a restraint system. Children between 7 and 12 years old or between 125 and 150 cm tall must use a booster seat or a seat cushion. It is the responsibility of the child's parent or guardian to provide the appropriate child seat for their child.
