Pick up and Drop off points & Times

There are no dedicated pick up points for flight tours. You will have to meet a Star Tours representative directly at the airport.

There are three different climate zones in Spain, due to its large size. Visitors can generally expect a Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The vast central plateau, or Meseta, has a more continental influenced climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. Rain generally falls mostly in spring and autumn. The mountains surrounding the plateau have a higher rainfall and often experience heavy snowfalls in winter.

North of the Cantabrian Mountains, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia have a maritime climate, with cool summers and mild winters. The weather is often cloudy with frequent rainfall. On the Mediterranean coast, the climate is moderate with rain in spring and autumn. The area around Murcia has an almost African climate; rainfall is low and the Calima, or heat haze, is common during summer. On the Atlantic coast, the summers are cooler and fairly heavy rainfall occurs during winter. Inland, the summers are hot and the rainfall decreases. The Balearic Islands have a maritime climate, with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers.

Baggage allowance will normally be 20kg – this will be dependent on the airline you are travelling with. Please ensure you adhere to current aviation regulations. Please remember that passengers’ will have to carry their luggage to and from the coach to the hotel room.

Clothing & Accessories

Passengers should generally carry light to medium weight and rainwear, according to the season.

Generally Spain is quite hot in the summer and a t-shirt and shorts is recommended.

Passengers should also carry suitable footwear as per the itinerary of the tour e.g. comfortable trainers for a tour, which includes walking or suitable footwear. Passengers should also bring along there swimwear as you will be visiting many beaches while you are in Spain e.g Costa Brava and Valencia Beach.

Bring along your Euros as you will be visiting the Gran Via in Madrid which is the Oxford Street of Madrid, and also visiting La Rambla which is a tree-lined pedestrian mall which stretches for 1.2 kilometres in Barcelona and very popular with tourists.

Passengers should also carry travel adapters so they can charge their electronic items in their hotel room (as the sockets in Europe and elsewhere vary from those in the UK). Passengers may also want to carry a small travel iron, hair dryer, kettle etc, as many hotel rooms will not have these facilities.

Your mobile phone may be able to receive calls whilst on holiday, you can check with your network operator to switch on the roaming feature of your mobile, there is usually an additional charge to receive incoming calls whilst aboard.

Please ensure you carry all medication you will need on tour as well as names and doses of medications you are taking or copies of prescriptions.

In Spain the currency you will require will be Euros. Star Tours’ advices passengers to exchange any spending money for their holiday before they actually travel. Whilst on tour it is very inconvenient and not all places we will be visiting will have ATM machines or accept credit/debit cards.

We also advice our passengers to keep some change in coins on them whilst on tour as using toilets in many parts of Spain is not free.

Children & Young Infants

Car seats are not provided on coaches but passengers should carry car seats with travelling infants for comfort and safety. Most coaches will not have hot water to heat up milk bottles (not suitable for drinking). Therefore it is the passengers’ responsibility to make sure of necessary arrangements for any children in their group.

Milk and baby food cannot be provided by the hotel or restaurants and passengers are advised to carry ready to drink milk whilst on tour.

Please also note that not all hotels provide a kettle so if hot water is required for warming milk etc in the hotel then it is advisable to carry a bottle warmer / kettle. Pushchairs can be kept in the baggage lockers of the coach.

We will accept light weight manual wheelchairs for travel, subject to them being capable of being stowed in the luggage hold of the coach.  It is also essential that a family member is also on the tour to push their wheelchair. Star Tours will also request hotels for suitably equipped rooms; however, this is only on a request basis and cannot be guaranteed.

Tour Managers

Professional tour managers & local guides accompany our tours throughout the itinerary, on rare occasions the Tour Manager may not meet passengers at their dedicated pick up point but at a later stage, the driver will be there to take care of any of the passengers’ needs.

Your tour manager will accompany you to the sights, and be there to answer any questions you may have, and provide advice and assistance. If you have, any concerns please feel free to ask your tour manager whilst on tour. The tour manager and Tour guides will conduct the tours in English.

Please ensure your tour manager has the mobile number that you are carrying with you on tour. The tour manager will provide passengers with their contact details for the duration of the tour on the first day.

Please note that on the first day of your tour you may collect a list of details for the hotels you will be staying in, as reference. In case you are separated from the group and need to make your way back to the hotel.

All coaches are fitted with arm rests, TV, DVD/CD. Coaches will not be fitted with WC facilities, however regular comfort breaks will be made to ensure that clients are refreshed for their journeys

Curries, chips and other hot food are not allowed to be consumed on the coach. In addition, chewing gum and ice cream is also not allowed on the coach. Examples of food people bring to snack on include crisps, biscuits, chevda, drinks etc.

Seating Allocation

Please remember our staff cannot take requests for any seats. Seat numbers will be given to you, on day one of your tour. Passengers with children in their group will not be seated near the front due to EU regulations & company policy. Please note that all seats on the coach are the same, and have the same level of comfort, do not be disappointed if your seats are near the back of the coach. Your holiday experience will not be ruined due to this.

Distances & Journeys

As this is a flight tour there will not be many long journeys. The longest journey is from Madrid to Valencia will be around 5 hours which is including a stop at a service station for lunch. It is advisable passengers carry necessities that they may need for each day such as water, dry snacks, cameras etc. with them in their hand luggage.
