Day 1
London St Pancras (Eurostar) - Brussels - Netherlands (Distance: 180 Kms)
Your European adventure begins in the heart of London. Early this morning, meet your Star Tours representative at St Pancras International and board the Eurostar bound for Brussels. Reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, the train carries you beneath the English Channel through the Channel Tunnel, one of the great engineering achievements of the modern age. In under two hours you'll arrive at Brussels Midi, with free WiFi on board and time to settle in with your own breakfast as the countryside rushes by.
Our coach is waiting to take you into the city centre, where Brussels reveals its charm. Step into the Grand Place, or Grote Markt, often called one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. Gilded guildhalls line every side, the Gothic Town Hall soars above the cobbles, and the King's House, home to the Museum of the City of Brussels, completes a scene made for photographs.
Just a short stroll away stands one of the city's most-loved characters, the Manneken Pis. This small 17th-century bronze fountain has charmed visitors for centuries and is often dressed in one of his hundreds of festive costumes. No visit to Belgium is complete without its famous treats, so enjoy a warm Belgian waffle and ice cream, compliments of Star Tours.
After a delicious Indian lunch, we visit Mini-Europe, where the whole continent is laid out before you in a single afternoon. Set in beautiful gardens of flowering groves and dwarf trees, the park features more than 350 of Europe's most famous monuments recreated at 1:25 scale, brought to life with thousands of lifelike figures and animations. From Big Ben to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, it's a wonderful preview of the journey ahead.
From the gardens, look up to see the Atomium, a gleaming 102-metre stainless-steel structure shaped like an atom. Built for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair, it has become the city's most striking landmark and a fitting farewell to Belgium.
In the late afternoon, we cross into Germany and travel to Cologne, the country's fourth-largest city, set on the banks of the River Rhine. We enjoy a hearty Indian dinner together before checking in to our hotel for a restful night, ready for the adventures to come.
Day 2
Cologne - Rhine Cruise at Boppard - Heidelberg - Mannheim/Frankfurt (Distance: 350 kms)
After breakfast, we head into Cologne to visit its world-famous cathedral. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and Germany's most visited landmark, this 157-metre Gothic masterpiece took more than 600 years to complete. Step inside to admire the soaring nave, then take your photos of its remarkable façade.
Following an Indian lunch, we board our boat at Boppard for a peaceful cruise along the River Rhine, Germany's longest river. Vineyards, forested hills and medieval castles drift by as you relax with tea, coffee and ice cream on board.
Later, we arrive in Heidelberg on the banks of the River Neckar. A short orientation walk takes in the Old Bridge, with its picture-perfect view of Heidelberg Castle on the hillside, the Old Church and the Old Town Square. We end the day with an Indian dinner before checking in to our hotel.
Day 3
Mannheim/Frankfurt - Black Forest (Lake Titisee) - Rhine Falls - Zurich (Distance: 480 kms)
Today we drive south through the Black Forest, a landscape of dark fir trees, deep gorges and rolling valleys. At Titisee-Neustadt, enjoy free time beside Lake Titisee, the largest natural lake in the Black Forest. Wander the charming streets and browse for traditional cuckoo clocks and souvenirs.
After an Indian lunch, we cross into Switzerland to Schaffhausen and the spectacular Rhine Falls, the largest plain waterfall in Europe. Board a boat to the rock in the middle of the falls and enjoy a snack as the water thunders around you.
We continue to Zurich, where free time lets you explore the city on foot. Highlights include the Fraumünster Church with its stained-glass windows by Marc Chagall, the twin-towered Grossmünster in the medieval Old Town and the shores of Lake Zurich. After dinner, we settle into our hotel for the next three nights.
Day 4
Mt Jungfrau - Interlaken (Distance: 230 kms)
After an early breakfast, we travel towards Lucerne and board our train to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. The journey takes you through the heart of Switzerland and the Lauterbrunnen Valley, one of the world's deepest U-shaped valleys, with sheer cliffs rising 1,000 metres on either side.
A thrilling cogwheel railway then carries you up to the Jungfraujoch, 3,454 metres above sea level. At the top, explore the Ice Palace with its life-sized sculptures carved from the glacier, and step onto the Sphinx Observation Terrace for breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier. On a clear day, the views are said to reach as far as Italy. Lunch is at your own leisure at the summit.
In the afternoon, we visit Interlaken, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Stroll along the Höheweg with the Bernese Alps as your backdrop, and visit the Kursaal gardens to see the statue of legendary Indian filmmaker Yash Chopra. We return for an Indian dinner and a well-earned rest.
Day 5
Mt Titlis - Lucerne (Distance: 90 kms)
Today we ascend Mt Titlis, more than 10,000 feet above sea level. After a cable car or funicular, depending on the season, we board the Titlis Rotair, the world's first revolving cable car, which turns a full 360 degrees as it climbs.
At the summit, play in the snow, explore the glacier cave and pose for photos in traditional Swiss dress. Brave the Titlis Cliff Walk, Europe's highest suspension bridge at around 3,000 metres, and ride the Ice Flyer chairlift over glistening snowfields and crevasses up to 20 metres deep (both subject to operation - Ice Flyer is a optional).
After an Indian lunch, we descend from Engelberg to the beautiful city of Lucerne. Wander the cobbled streets of the Old Town and cross the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), first built in 1333 and Europe's oldest covered wooden bridge. We then enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Lucerne with tea, coffee or a soft drink, surrounded by Mt Pilatus, Mt Rigi and the Swiss Alps. Our final stop is the moving Lion Monument, carved in honour of the Swiss Guards who fell in 1792 during the French Revolution. We end the day with an Indian dinner and prepare for tomorrow's departure.
Day 6
Bern - Lausanne - Lake Geneva Cruise - Geneva (Distance: 250 kms)
After checking out, we travel to Bern, the Swiss capital. Its medieval Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its arcaded streets and the Zytglogge clock tower. Enjoy free time to explore, with lunch at your own leisure.
We continue to Lausanne on the shores of Lake Geneva for some free time, before heading to Geneva. Here we stop for photos outside the Palais des Nations, home of the United Nations Office at Geneva, and see the famous Jet d'Eau. A scenic cruise on Lake Geneva then reveals the city's lakeside setting against an Alpine backdrop. We finish with dinner and check in to our hotel.
Day 7
Geneva - Paris by TGV (Distance: 580 kms)
After breakfast, we board the high-speed TGV to Paris while your luggage travels separately by coach. Relax with free WiFi, tea or coffee and a muffin as the Jura Mountains and the French countryside pass by at up to 320 km/h.
In Paris, we head straight to the Louvre. With your entrance ticket and audio guide, see masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa and the Marly Horses, or shop for gifts inside the museum.
Later, we board a Bateaux cruise for an hour on the River Seine. From inside the glass-topped boat or out on deck, admire the Grand Palais, Petit Palais, Pont Alexandre III, Les Invalides and the Eiffel Tower as the commentary brings the city to life. After dinner, we transfer to our hotel.
